CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT RICE KRISPIE TREATS


INGREDIENTS:
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 package (about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups mini marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
3 cups chocolate chips
2 cups crushed candy canes or peppermint candies

DIRECTIONS:
In a microwave safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Mix until smooth.

Add Rice Krispies cereal to the bowl and stir until the cereal is well coated.

Using a buttered spoon, press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray and allow to cool.

Melt chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl on high for 30 seconds and stir. Repeat the 30 second intervals until melted.

Cut the rice krispie treats into 2-inch squares and place the squares on parchment paper.

Get a spoonful of the melted chocolate chips and drizzle chocolate all over the rice krispie treats. If desired, spoon the melted chocolate into a ziplock bag with a tiny portion of the corner snipped off and squeeze the chocolate out of the bag onto the treats.

Sprinkle the squares with crushed peppermint candies before the chocolate sets.
